Mom of Jets' Zach Wilson felt like 'throwing up' during his return from injury

New York Jets starting quarterback and second-year pro Zach Wilson insisted ahead of Sunday's game at the Pittsburgh Steelers that he was "100 percent" recovered from the knee injury he suffered during the preseason that cost him the first three games of the 2022 NFL regular season.

Wilson largely backed those words en route to guiding the Jets to a comeback win over the Steelers that featured the 23-year-old catching a touchdown pass during the second quarter. He was able to joke after the victory that he has "the best hands on the team," but his mom made it clear she didn't necessarily love every minute of Sunday's matchup.

Per Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post, Lisa Wilson, Zach's mother, took to her Instagram Story to declare she felt physically ill watching the signal-caller back in action.

"It will be fun they said. Then why do I feel like throwing up," she captioned that post.

"Well, that was fun, said no mother of a quarterback ever," she later added during a separate video. "So, people have been writing me going, 'What do you do? Do you scream at the TV, are you freaking out and jumping up and down?' No, I actually sit there, very quiet, very calm."

Lisa Wilson also said she will "find a dark space somewhere" and "lay very calm" when she becomes "too nervous" watching Zach play.

Lisa, of course, found her name in headlines this past summer when Zach's ex-girlfriend alleged he cheated on her with his mom’s best friend.

As for Zach's on-the-field performance, ESPN's Rich Cimini noted that the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft completed 10-of-12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter of what became a 24-20 win at Acrisure Stadium. The 2-2 Jets will next host the 3-1 Miami Dolphins this coming Sunday.
